Simultaneous Analysis of PFAS in River Water Using an Online SPE-LC/MS System

PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) have been used in a wide range of products, including food packaging, cookware, and industrial applications, due to their excellent heat resistance and water repellency. However, these substances, also known as “forever chemicals,” are difficult to break down and can accumulate in the environment and human bodies, potentially causing various risks. Consequently, the importance of regulating and monitoring them has gained significant attention in recent years.

Online SPE-LC/MS System (SPL-W100)

The solid-phase extraction unit is integrated into the LC system, enabling fully automated online analysis from SPE conditioning and sample loading to elution and LC injection.

This groundbreaking instrument combines the advantages of conventional offline preprocessing methods with online preprocessing.

Fully automated from preprocessing to measurement

Simply place the sample in the vial and start the device to fully automate the entire process from pretreatment (solid-phase extraction) to HPLC-MS/MS measurement.

 

Pretreatment takes 12 minutes. For the second sample and beyond, processing the next sample occurs during HPLC analysis, enabling efficient analysis.

Sharp chromatograms achieved with the MiVS valve system

By utilizing our patented MiVS valve system, the eluent from the solid phase can be diluted within the valve and introduced into the HPLC column.

 

Using the MiVS valve system enables the acquisition of sharp chromatograms without broadening of the target components within the column.
